Research

Between 2018 and 2022, several case studies investigated the instructional design of the MPP prototype. Findings informed recommendations and guidelines for setting instructional goals and implementing Virtual Collaborative Learning Environments (VCLEs) within an LMS (Moodle). The simulation supports cognitive, situated, and collaborative learning approaches.

Experimentation

The prototype was successfully delivered in the course “Business Strategy & Data Analytics” at a Sino-foreign higher education institution in China (2018–2022) in online, classroom, and blended formats.

Simulation Experience

Learners are immersed in a virtual workplace environment, acting as consultants responsible for proposing a strategic plan and designing a dashboard of performance indicators. The business case centers on a fictitious company, Mengxiang Plastics Products, operating in the plastics manufacturing sector, with scenarios that replicate real workplace contexts.

Technology Infrastructure

The simulation is built on the Uptale VR immersive platform. 3D images and videos are integrated into the virtual workspace, enhanced with interactive features such as text planes, 2D media, voice guidance, navigation arrows, and interactive buttons to create a rich and engaging experience.

Access

Registered members of Huyixiang Lab can access the prototype along with supporting resources—videos, guided tours, and instructional guidelines—to help design and implement similar immersive learning experiences.
