Community Engagement:The VR-based Experiential Learning for Financial Accounting prototype hosted by Huyixiang Lab enables learners to actively engage in bookkeeping, financial reporting, and decision-making based on real-world economic data. The immersive environment mirrors professional practices, fostering collaboration while equipping learners with tools to utilize accounting information, construct representations, and analyze outcomes.This approach bridges theory and practice, ensuring that activities are directly relevant to accounting careers and enhancing both engagement and motivation. Learners are supported in completing the various production steps of accounting data within a cohesive and authentic environment.
Experimentation
The prototype has been developed through a progressive, iterative approach that allows the learning experience to be tested, refined, and improved over time.
Simulation Experience
The scenario simulates the day-to-day practice of accounting woven into a coherent narrative. Learners can adopt roles such as accounting clerk, assistant, or auditor, while immersive scenarios may also feature managers, clients, and suppliers to enhance authenticity.
Learners navigate seamlessly between the Learning Management System (LMS) and the VR platform, engaging in interconnected activities that form a continuous learning journey. Core learning objectives include:
Understanding fundamental accounting principles (e.g., matching principle, revenue recognition, accrual accounting).
Recording business transactions accurately using double-entry bookkeeping.
Navigating the full accounting cycle, from journal entries to adjusting entries and final accounts.
Preparing essential financial statements.
